Help shape the future of Hereford Food Bank
We are seeking several new trustees to join our Board and help us strengthen our organisation, develop our services and plan for the future.
We are particularly interested in people with professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
· Property Management – premises, estates and facilities management.
· Construction and Contracting – building projects, refurbishment, procurement and contract management.
· Human Resources – employment practices, recruitment and organisational development.
· Marketing and Communications – promoting our work, community engagement and raising awareness.
· Information Technology – digital systems, cybersecurity and technology strategy.
Our trustees play a vital role in setting the Food Bank’s strategic direction, ensuring good governance and supporting our long-term sustainability.
We already have a Board with a complementary mix of skills, knowledge and perspectives that we are looking to grow further. You do not need expertise in every area or previous trustee experience.
As a trustee, you will work alongside fellow trustees and the Operations Manager to help shape strategy, assess opportunities, manage risks and ensure that decisions support the Food Bank’s mission.
You will contribute your professional expertise while sharing the collective responsibilities of the Board, including:
· Supporting the Food Bank’s vision, mission, strategy and values.
· Ensuring effective governance and responsible use of resources.
· Contributing to strategic decisions and the Food Bank’s long-term sustainability.
· Acting in the best interests of the Food Bank and its beneficiaries.
· Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
The role is strategic rather than operational. You will not be expected to undertake day-to-day management responsibilities.
You will have relevant professional experience, sound judgement and a willingness to contribute constructively to Board discussions. Above all, you will share our commitment to supporting people experiencing financial hardship and want to make a positive difference in our community.
Previous trustee experience is welcome but not essential.
· Responsible to: Chair of Trustees.
· Time commitment: Four Board meetings per year, the Annual General Meeting and occasional contact with the Chair between meetings.
· Additional involvement: Some travel to Food Bank premises, meetings and events.
· Remuneration: Voluntary and unpaid.
Whether your expertise is in property, construction, HR, marketing or IT, you could help us build a stronger Charity and shape the future of our services.
To apply by 4thNovember, please email your CV and a covering letter outlining your relevant experience and interest in becoming a trustee to chair@herefordfoodbank.co.uk. Please indicate your area of expertise and previous trustee experience.
Donations from our local churches- thank you
Thank you to June, one of our volunteers, for putting this thank you video together for our 2025 Christmas Food Donation Appeal.
We’re a little late sharing our Harvest 2025 update, simply because the season flowed straight into an extremely busy Christmas period. Now that things have calmed slightly, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed.
Schools, churches, businesses, community groups, and individual supporters all came together, and the response was truly fantastic. Your generosity filled our shelves just when we needed it most, helping us support families throughout autumn and into the Christmas rush.
Whether you donated a single item or organised a whole collection, it made a real difference. We couldn’t do this without you.
From all of us at Hereford Foodbank: thank you for your kindness and continued support.
