About Hereford Food Bank

Reverse Advent Calendars

This year we’re running two Reverse Advent Calendar collections  one in November and one in December .

November Reverse Advent Calendar

Throughout November, we’re asking supporters to collect one item each day, things like festive treats, long-life puddings, tins of ham, custard, or chocolates, ready to be delivered to us in early December.
These donations will help us create Christmas parcels filled with a few extra goodies for individuals and families who might otherwise go without.

We’d love your support. Whether you collect items as a family, at work, in school, or with your community group, every donation makes a difference.

December Reverse Advent Calendar

Our December collection focuses on essential winter foods to help stock our shelves for the busy start of the new year.
January can be a particularly tough time for many households, so these donations things like tinned meat, soup, cereal, tea, and long-life milk, help us be ready to support those in need after Christmas.

How to Take Part

  1. Download  or pick up our Reverse Advent Calendar list from Monkmoor Street.
  2. Collect  one item a day through the month.
  3. Arrange to drop off or for us to collect your donations..

Thank you for helping us make Christmas and the new year brighter for local people in crisis.

Christmas and New Year Opening Hours

As we head towards the festive season, we wanted to remind everyone of our Christmas opening hours and to ask our referring partners to please avoid last-minute referrals wherever possible.

Our volunteers work incredibly hard all year round giving an average of over 600 hours of their time every month to keep the Foodbank running smoothly. We’re so grateful for their commitment and dedication, and we want to make sure they can enjoy a well-earned rest over Christmas.

To help us do this, please ensure any referrals for emergency food are made well before our final distribution day in December. This will allow us to prepare and deliver parcels in good time before our short Christmas closure.

We’ll reopen in the New Year ready to continue supporting those in need  and your help in planning ahead makes all the difference.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we give our amazing volunteers a chance to recharge and spend time with their families.
